This could be a great opportunity if you have at least five years of translation experience, are familiar with a variety of technical fields (especially aerospace and transportation sectors such as aviation and automotive), and have a high level of general knowledge. We are looking for a versatile, detail-oriented individual with solid writing and research skills.
As a member of our team of experts, you will find the correct references and accurately translate a variety of documents, many of them specialized, while exercising your professional judgment at all times. You will be supported by a team leader and will work closely with Versacom’s Service Centre and Terminology Centre to maintain successful, professional relationships with clients.
Primary duties
- Translate or adapt technical documents (as well as texts of a more general nature) within established time frames and in keeping with Versacom’s stringent quality standards.
- Complete all the required research (terminology, databases, etc.) to support your translations.
- Maximize each text’s effectiveness while fulfilling the client’s objectives.
- Keep close track of current projects and deadlines, in tandem with the Service Centre.
- Make optimal use of all available tools for translation assistance, subject-matter research, and project management.
Education and skills
- University degree (bachelor’s or higher) in translation or a related field
- At least five years of experience in translation
- Very good knowledge of different technical fields, especially aerospace and transportation sectors such as aviation and automotive
- Good knowledge of other fields
- Flawless command of the French language and excellent understanding of English
- Excellent communication skills with both clients and colleagues
- Proficiency in the tools commonly used in the language industry
- Strong research skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Great intellectual curiosity
- High level of efficiency, autonomy and thoroughness
- Professionalism and a strong client focus
- Good teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively manage simultaneous priorities
- Ideally, certification by an association of language professionals, or plans to become certified
